Standardized Testing Information
Homeschoolers (including students enrolled at Hybridge) are required by law to take a standardized test every three years, beginning in third grade. This could include the SAT, PSAT 9/10, or ACT for high schoolers, or the PSAT 8, or CAT for middle schoolers. Several colleges ask for a student's SAT or ACT scores during the application process. Hybridge Academy does not administer standardized testing, and while we will help you along the way, guardians are responsible for ensuring students are tested. Below, you will find information on how to access these tests for your student.
College Board Testing (SAT, PSAT)
Generally, PSAT testing is offered in the Fall, and SAT testing is offered year-round. To register for the SAT or PSAT as a homeschooler, you will first locate a school near you that offers the test. From Hybridge Academy, the closest option is Tucker High School, but you can use this tool to enter your zip code and find schools and centers offering testing. You may need to call the front office or guidance counselor to confirm that homeschoolers can test with them. From there you will register for the test as normal, through College Board. If they ask for a school code, you will specify that your student is homeschooled. If that is not an option on your registration, the universal homeschool code for the SAT is 970000. ACT (American College Testing)
To register for the ACT as a homeschooler, the process is very similar to College Board registration. To find an ACT testing location near you, use the tool on this site. You may need to call the front office or guidance counselor to confirm that homeschoolers can test with them. From there, you'll register online as normal. The universal homeschool code for the ACT is 969-999. To view ACT testing dates, deadlines, and registration information, click here. CAT (California Achievement Test)
Unlike the SAT, PSAT, and ACT, the CAT is something that can be completed at home, rather than at a public school building. This test is available to purchase, does not require registration, and serves students in grades 2-12. (This means that a high schooler who is not planning on going to college can use this test to meet the standardized testing requirement. If a high school student is hoping to attend college, we recommend the SAT or ACT.) Parents can administer the test themselves, following the instructions provided.
